Bout 5 Recap: The Bout that Launched a Thousand Hits!

Caesar would have given a thumb’s up as the underdog Kilmores came back from an early 32 – 1 deficit to lead the Bangers 56-53 at the half.  The Bangers, current league champs, came back fighting to get lead jammer 11 times out of the 17 jams in the second half. The Kilmores played strong offense, freeing their jammer from the pack, to keep the Bangers lead tight. In the end, the Banger Sisters pulled away with a 122-85 win. They came, they saw, they conquered.

The true gladiatorial combat, though, was between the legion of the Delta Delta Di and the Violent Femmes. These two teams were both 1-1 and were fighting to determine who would skate against the Banger Sisters for the championship.

While the Deltas lead for almost the entire bout, they could never get separation from the Femmes who refused to be thrown to the lions.

Behind 68 – 98 late in the second half, the Femmes put together two great jams by Katastrophe and JackKILLope, closing the gap to 86-102.  With only 8 seconds left on the clock, both teams lined up for the final jam.

Katastrophe was jamming for the Femmes, who kept the Delta jammer bottled up for a full two minutes.  The Femmes managed to score 15 points in the final jam but time ran out before they could reach the pack and seal an amazing come-from-behind victory. The final score of 102 – 101 propels Delta Delta Di to the championship.

It was a great finish that set up two fantastic bouts for our championship bout on March 21st!
